Spring Hospitality
By Claudia Oswald, Sponsorship & Hospitality Coordinator
Well... it has certainly been a very exciting last few months in the world of Hospitality at Cleanevent.

It all began back in September with the annual "Cleanevent Manikato Stakes Day" which was held at Moonee Valley Racecourse. The raceday was officially sponsored by Cleanevent with our co-sponsors being Veolia Environmental Services, Curran Chemicals and Honan Insurance.

Both our clients and co-sponsors were treated to a corporate lunch in the Cox Plate room which overlooked the entire racecourse. The weather was fantastic, and so to the horse racing! The group 1 Cleanevent Manikato Stakes was won by Gold Edition and Steve Webber; our Australian COO was there to present the trophy to the winning jockey and owner.

Only 10 days later it was time to host the 'Cleanevent VIP family day' at the Royal Melbourne Show. This was such a great opportunity to not only invite our clients, but also their family and children.

In total, we had 20 families attend with over 50 children between the ages of 3 months to 14 years. Our function was held in one of the corporate pavilions on the showgrounds right in front of the Ferris wheel. The children had the opportunity to meet and greet some special guests being 'Shrek and Princess Fiona' along with receiving a variety of showbags, fairy floss and ride tickets. Parents were also treated to food & wine along with a variety of award winning cheese.

The day was a great success, with many of our clients rewarding Cleanevent for its efforts in providing a fun day out for their children.Just some of the kind feedback we received included this email from Kevin Lameris.

"I would like to thank you and your company for their generous invitation to my family and I to the show yesterday.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend until after 5:00pm where by I met up with my wife, Sharon and my three boys, and was informed that the service and attention displayed by both Cleanevent staff and your chosen caterers towards all guests but in particular towards the children was exceptional.

To be greeted by Craig Lovett upon arrival at the event was a lovely touch and certainly did not go unnoticed as Sharon was most impressed.

In this age of extreme work loads and such busy lives, where to find time to watch your children enjoy the experiences that you enjoyed as a child is priceless.

Again thanks to all who provided this cherished opportunity to see my kids thrilled by the fun of the fair"

Kind regards,

In mid October, it was time to hit the sunny Gold Coast for the Lexmark Indy 300.

We had job of hosting the Cleanevent Corporate Suite which was located on track, overlooking the Chicane. There was 3 days of pure entertainment, with the V8's, Utes and Champ car racing all taking place, not to mention some great musical acts on the main stage, with Good Charlotte and the Veronica's. The crowds were a buzz!

Over the 3 days, it was great to see many of our Queensland clients turn up and enjoy the Cleanevent Hospitality! We had clients from Doomben & Eagle farm racecourse, Surfers Paradise Management and various shopping centres. The Cleanevent management team were all on board, with Craig Lovett, Nicko Mavro, Paul Lovett, Greg Purcell and Ken Mayes all getting into the action. Sunday was main race day and there was a great atmosphere amongst the crowds with everyone getting behind TEAM AUSTRALIA.

The clients were extremely happy, as some commented on how they had never been on track in a corporate suite before. So till next year... we look forward to a big and better Indy Carnival in 2008.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival was the last major hospitality event for Cleanevent in 2007. The carnival itself was the most anticipated in recent years, due the outbreak of EI that saw many racecourses shut down over this period.

All the excitement started on the Derby Day, where Cleanevent had hosted a corporate facility in the exclusive Birdcage. With an attendance of almost 130,000 people that day, it was sure to be an unforgettable event! The crowd was out and about early, with almost 130 guests expected in the Cleanevent facility.

We had guests from all over the country including SA & NSW. We also had a special visitor from the UK; Mr John Potts from Royal Ascot, England was very excited about the opportunity to spend a day at the races at Flemington.

Hayley, Lisa and I hosted the race day which started from about 10am in the morning. Our caterers Peter Rowland supplied a premium menu to all guests and it was not long after midday in which we had everyone turn up. Our facility was in a prime position for celebrity spotting as well.

A special thanks to BA (Brian Allison from Veolia). He was in charge of a betting competition amongst all the clients. He managed to win over $5,000 for the group, which was then split amongst all who were involved! Thanks BA!

The AAMI Derby was run and won by Kibbutz a horse that was a crowd favourite! After the main race, the DJ started and everyone was up of the dance floor. Unfortunately the day had to come to an end, however many guests did continue the Derby day party well into the night!

Overall a very successful and exciting day at the races... but wait... we all had to do the same thing again on Cup & Oaks!

We were lucky once again, that the weather was magic for the race that stops the nation, the Emirate Melbourne Cup. Not only did we have clients on the day, but it was great to see many Cleanevent staff members turn up to the Cleanevent Facility.

The Melbourne Cup was won by Efficient a sentimental favourite amongst many racegoers.

Oak's Day or Ladies Day how some like to call it, was the last day of the Cleanevent Hospitality at Flemington. There was a great buzz in the Birdcage that day, and each and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. The outfits were classy and the racing supreme.

The main race was won by Araphaho Miss.

In the world of Hospitality, we will take a break in December and return with some exciting events early next year with the Medibank Tennis International in January and the Formula 1 Grand Prix in March, not to mention the start of both the NRL and AFL season around that time to. Bring on 2008...
