The last few months have seen a significant number of changes here at Wimbledon as the redevelopment continues unabated. Cleanevent’s operations have been relocated to a facility adjacent to the Aorangi Pavilion which we will call ‘home’ for the ensuing future.

Throughout our relocation we not only found ourselves moving, but also servicing two Club tournaments, a debentures party, the junior tennis initiative as well as undertaking the regular day-to-day tasks.

Charles Sawyer has been promoted to a new role at Chelsea Football Club and Julie Farrell has moved to the coast and semi retirement so opportunities have arisen for other staff members to further develop their skills.

Ramon Martin has taken the opportunity to step into Charles shoes and take on more of a leadership role here at Wimbledon. Thanks to Charles for all he has achieved at Wimbledon and for so willingly spending valuable time training Ramon. Good luck to both Charles and Ramon in their new roles.

Foremost in the changes at Wimbledon is the retirement of Chris Gorringe (CEO) and Roger Ambrose (Club Secretary) who have been with the Club for many years and guided the Club through many significant changes over the past twenty years or so. Good luck to you both in your retirement and thank you for all your support throughout the years.

The club office staff face a tremendous upheaval at the end of November when they move into their new offices above the new turnstile building (I am still to be convinced they will all fit it!).  We will also lose our key tourist attraction, outside of the Championships, for a few months when the museum closes its old doors for the last time.  The new purpose built museum, at present be kitted out, will be an even bigger tourist attraction.

Until next time.
