Rebecca Harvey Fills us in on what is happening at Flemington Racecourse
On the 1st of January the VRC and Cleanevent embarked on an alternative management approach and 6 months on we are traveling well. Continual communication has proved a key component. Working closely with Cleanevent the Club has had greater involvement whilst gaining a better understanding of the Cleanevent operation at Flemington. The input, co-operation and enthusiasm from all involved has been great in this exciting new phase.

People do query what we do at Flemington outside of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Unfortunately it is not Champagne and Chicken sandwiches year round – Moet and Rowland’s famed of course. Cleanevent Venue Manager - Paul Desmond and his team are kept busy with regular race meetings and functions through Flemington The Event Centre.

After the successful Festival of Racing incorporating the Super Saturday we now look forward to winter racing at Flemington which means jumps racing. On the 9th of July we host of the running of the 140th staging of the Cleanevent Grand National Steeplechase. A race day not to be missed!
August brings the new race season and that means the Melbourne Cup Carnival is just around the corner. Everyone will be kept busy with lead up races and associated events. The standard of rubbish on the lawns will be lifted this Melbourne Cup with the deletion of Great Western Sparkling from bars. The number of bottles though will not decrease, just replaced with the more Fleur de Lys.

We have said goodbye to familiar Cleanevent faces and welcomed new ones to the team on site. Thanks must go to Paul Desmond who leads the team and has embraced the changes and the Clubs greater involvement.
