Autumn Carnival Wrap

The good horses, the weather and the punters all arrived for Super Saturday and what a day it turned out to be.

With a change of format this year, the Autumn Carnival really hit its straps. Match ups of the greatest horses in the country and a 30C + day, made for a party atmosphere, not unlike you would see during Spring Racing Carnival. All those who made it to Fleminton enjoyed a special feeling.

Along with the euphoria that these days brought came a bit of sadness, in that this would be Matt Halls last race day with the Flemington team. Matt has accepted a position with the Wimmera Turf Club. All at VRC wish Matt the very best, he is a very special guy to a lot of people and will be sadly missed. This came on top of the decision of Joe Seketa to retire to the bush, another whose face will be missed around the course. I had better put the plug back in.
