Anthony Chin – UK National Operations Manager
Five Madonna concerts, Test Match cricket at the Oval, Horseracing at Sandown, the first games of the Premier League season at Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham Football Clubs, Leeds and Reading Festivals and a few other smaller events all in the first 3 weeks of me commencing in my role with Cleanevent UK!
Certainly a baptism of fire but equally a great way to quickly understand the intensity of our operation, the nature and enormity of the business we conduct as a company. Change management was also underway with a new organisational structure being implemented for Cleanevent UK, the launch of a new image, a reminder of our commitment to customer service and a reaffirmation of Cleanevent core values.
With Christmas rapidly approaching it has been fantastic to see how quickly the venue teams have embraced the changes. It has been particularly pleasing to see the football venues develop over the past few weeks as they all have new managers who have been working diligently to maintain and improve the cleaning and service standards. Well done to Mandy Mead, Alonsa (Zee) Stirlin and Dave Holt who have been ably supported by some hard working supervisors and dedicated cleaning crews. A particular thank you goes to Scott Booth for his hard work in linking the football operations together and providing a consistency in our elevated service levels at the stadiums.
Congratulations also to Dan Thompson and his crew at Wembley Arena. A frantic couple of months have seen more than 30 shows loaded in and serviced. The Arena team are looking forward to the New Year and a new challenge in the form of the Wembley Arena Pavilion.
Clive Lynch and his team have been busy keeping on top of the cleaning at SW19 as the All England Lawn Tennis Club conduct some massive renovations which are to be completed in time for The Championships of 2005. Keep up the great work!
The Brit Oval has had a lot of cricket this year with not only a West Indies Test Match but also the ICC Championship that saw a defiant stand by the West Indies tail see them pass England’s total in the final. Not only did Nigel ‘Bones’ Jones have to oversee the delivery of the cleaning for the matches but in the middle of it all he also managed to get married! Well done Bones and well done to your team who performed extremely well during the season.
While events have quietened down in the past couple of months Dave Holt has been overseeing events at The Dome and returned to Aintree for a Sunday race meeting in October, no doubt with an eye to planning the Grand National Steeplechase for next year. Thanks to Dave for his flexibility and willingness to work across many events and venues.
The Cleanevent team is now looking very strong and I know is committed to delivering to our clients exacting standards, providing greater communication and developing mutually beneficial relationships for what is going to be a exciting 2005.
Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and profitable New Year to all.
