Since our last issue of Team Talk our US business unit has truly been moving in high gear. We kicked off another Event season with the premier of Nextel Cup racing at Daytona International Speedway in mid February. Next we held two other races at historic North Carolina Speedway (The Rock) and Darlington Speedway. Following that we conducted Spring Training cleaning for the New York Yankees Legends Field and we are getting ready for the first pitch of regular season baseball at Tropicana Field and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Additionally, we grew some new business with the award of a new account in Dallas, Texas, and the period was capped off with a recent trip to Melbourne, Australia for our 240 Day Review and a visit to the Foster’s Australian Formula One Grand Prix. It has been a busy three months!
The Event season has featured the roll out of our new approach and commitment to customer service by the entire division. Our managers are showing excellent results from this renewed spirit and clients have noticed the change.
Our Venues division season is now upon us with the advent of baseball spring training. Although several arenas operated throughout the winter months with basketball and hockey action, baseball signifies a substantial increase in venue activity. Tropicana Field recently favored us with a three year renewal of our cleaning agreement. We are proud to continue the association with Rick Nafe and his staff and are grateful for the confidence they have shown in Cleanevent USA with the extension of our contract.
One new venue we will be operating is the Dr. Pepper/7-Up Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. As home field of the Frisco RoughRiders, AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers, the ballpark is one year old and has garnered recognition as the best new park to open in 2003. We are very excited about the opportunity to have a presence in the Dallas marketplace.
I have just returned to the United States from a trip to the home office in Melbourne. During the 240-day review process, we reported on the progress of our business unit and were hosted to a variety of activities. Among the most noteworthy are the Formula One race in Melbourne and an executive retreat to a remote area of Victoria. I am always impressed by the splendor and natural beauty of Australia; this trip reinforced those impressions. The spectacular view of the Govern River countryside from atop the tower at Mitchelson Winery is one to remember! Peter Payne treated all the CEOs to a scenic drive through Heathcote and Lancefield on our drive back to the city of Melbourne. Then back to civilization, more meetings and Grand Prix racing.
With the beginning of the year behind us, we are all looking forward to applying the initiatives from our corporate meetings.
